Seem to be lots of people stuck on this one.
First, click view>advanced
Then click option>file attributes, error handling> and tick Discretionary access list, Group, Owner, System access control list.
And the important bit: Make sure you are running Richcopy on the source server, not the destination server. Then select your source from the local drive (eg e:\data) rather than \\server\share
Then all will be well, all NTFS permissions will be copied.
If it still persists in not copying permissions, go into options and create a new copy profile with NTFS permissions selected. Save it, go back to the main screen and select that profile for your copy job.
Great tool when it works!
“When it works” is right – I simply can’t get it to work. Already had done what you’ve suggested, and it just ignores the fact that you’ve TOLD IT to copy permissions!
Rubbish tool. Going to try something else.
🙂 yeh it can be a fiddle – make sure you run it as admin as well. But yes. It may be better to find something a little less fiddly!
